Electric Idol by Katee Robert

This was a very solid book. Should I have expected the accuracy of Greek myths from a smutty romance novel? No. Did that affect my feelings about the book and lower my rating? Yes. It feels like there was just so little connection to the actual myth of Psyche and Eros or just greek mythology at all besides the fact the characters of the different deities' names. Retellings or stories inspired by things have a very fine balance for me of being no different than the myth vs. being so different you wouldn't be able to tell it was a retelling if it wasn't said outright.

Other than that this was a very enjoyable book! The characters were great. I loved the representation we get of bi/pan for both of our main characters. Along with Psyche being fat and a lot of good representation of what that's like in a world that idolizes being skinny. I think the romance and smut were pretty solid as well and I do think how Katee Robert set up this world and version of Olympus was very interesting. I might listen to the other books in the series on audio like I did this one but I don't have a particularly strong desire to.
