"You smell like candy canes and pinecones and epic and awesome."

The way these characters and this story have burrowed themselves into my heart!

Book one in the Green Creek series is a paranormal/fantasy MM romance story that follows Ox & Joe. Ox has grown up feeling worthless thanks to his father & lonely thanks to near enough everyone in his small town treating him like an outsider, until at 16 a family moves into the house down the lane from him and a little blonde tornado named Joe decides that Ox smells like candy canes, pinecones and epic and awesome and gives Ox a gift that will change the course of his life.

I don't want to go into much detail as this is absolutely a story you need to experience firsthand. The story itself spans over years and the way everything is woven together is just beautiful, there is lots of humour, found family and bond building not just for our MCs but with the side characters too who I just adored! There are also heartbreakingly poignant moments, chest ache inducing angst, and throughout is this theme of being enough exactly as you are, acceptance and belonging. I loved the way the wolves were written, the way they moved, the things they did etc this is the first time in a long time where that element of things felt right to me, this is how you write shifters in my opinion, that aspect of their characters bled into every part of their characterisation and it wasn't just them turning at the full moon etc... what TJ did by not sticking to the typical lore with Ox's character was so refreshing!

I was so invested in this world and these characters that I was genuinely worried going into the last couple of chapters of this book, I even voice noted a friend saying if any of my babies died I would riot! I'm not someone that cries easily when reading books yet this made my face leak and for that I thank it! The audiobook was great and Kirt Graves did a fantastic job narrating. I will without question be continuing with this series and I can't wait to see what kind of journey the next book takes me on.
