The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton
5.0
This was my first Sharon Bolton book and it certainly won't be my last - once I started I couldn't put it down.
June 1969 and WPC Florence Loveday is sent to investigate the unlikely report from schoolchildren of hearing a voice call from a recent grave.
August 1999, the hottest day of the year and the funeral of convicted child murderer, Larry Glassbrook, who Florence arrested 30 years ago.
Now this book blew my mind! I devoured it in a couple days.
I much preferred the story set in 1966 over 1999 but that could be because of the fast past nature of them trying to solve the crime and Florence's and Tom's relationship developing.
The thing I found with Bolton was that I never saw any of her twists or turns coming and I found her writing so refreshing.
