Solid 4 rating. I thought this book was a fun read and will be reading the second one, likely closer to the third releasing. The premise is cool and the writing flows well to keep you invested. The banter is wonderful and I love a silly, goofy MMC as much as the next person. I like our FMC I just can’t wait for it to click that she’s actually a badass.

I am going to rant for a second so apologies in advance. The relationship read just a smidge too far YA on the NA scale for me as of this book, but I think that’s because I cannot stand virginity/innocence fixation in my romance books and 90% of the “tension” between the FMC/MMC was her chastity vow (+10% their age gap/lifespan). TO BE FAIR, she is a freaking nun but she also flinches at cussing? I don’t know - it really is done in a way that is understandable and probably will not bother many, it’s just my ick.

Some things I hope for the next books:
- at least a smidge more rage or processing
about the literal subjugation of humans to empty shells of people. My girl, you actively participated in it, please really feel that and not just the chafing of your chastity vow ffs.

- I swear this man better get checked
for his comments on her insecurities. You’re old as shit, dude, get some perspective you literally just made out with someone else.

Anyways, would recommend 😌
