Gwen and Art Are Not in Love is not a retelling.
It's Gwen's story, and it's Art's story, and they are not in love.
The descendent of King Arthur is known to be a useless, flirtations idiot. But Art doesn't think Gwen is so much better. Gwen is the smart, short-tempered princess of England. Art and Gwen are supposed to marry.
The plan goes off the rails when, during the summer stay Art has at Camelot, the two "lovebirds" blackmail each other instead of trying to get along. The only lady knight, Bridget, has caught Gwen's eye, and Art is unexpectedly falling for Gwen's brother, the quiet, bookish heartthrob of the kingdom.
Lex Croucher is a funny, talented author who writes heart wrenching stories. I couldn't leave the world of Gwen and Art, even after I reached the acknowledgments. The characters, the banter, and the enchanting romances filled my heart and plucked it out with every sharp turn of the plot. I felt this story in the best way. I just want to protect the characters, who are too young for what they have to go through. The character development they're forced into, especially the royal siblings, felt so natural and real and beautiful and tragic. Five stars is too less for this masterpiece.
Gwen and Art Are Not in Love will leave you laughing, sobbing, and gasping in anticipation.

Thank you to Wednesday Books for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
