All Our Hidden Gifts is an incredible, witchy, magical YA novel set in Ireland. Maeve is the youngest child in her large family; all her siblings are much older and quite smart and successful. Maeve is not, so she's in private school in hopes that she will get more attention and pass her exams. But to her parent's chagrin, Maeve is focused on anything but academics and it only gets worse when her ex-best friend Lily disappears. And she disappears after Maeve reads Tarot cards for her that were unsettling at best.
As Maeve and others wonder what happened to Lily, Maeve begins spending more time with Lily's sibling Roe. Their relationship and Roe's identity in this book go through massive shifts and evolution, and I was here for it. LOVE the enby, trans, you do you rep in this book. But there are dark forces of conservatism at play, namely a hate group called The Children of Brigid.
How will Lily be saved? Can she even be found? Who can keep the Children of Brigid from taking over the town? This beginning of a trilogy establishes strong, lovable characters and answers just enough questions to feel satisfying in its own right and propel you into reading the next book. I loved every second of this book!
