The Last Beekeeper
Julie Carrick Dalton

I think it’s pretty well known how important the bees truly are to our livelihood, so what would happen if the bees disappeared? Dalton explores that venue in her latest book The Last Beekeeper, with a compelling story line the answers with one probability.

Not only is the scientific research meticulously mingled in to enrich the story of found family, redemption and revival, you learn these little bits that you may have never known. Like the sound of bees, the process of honey and how to fix a bike.

Along with the answers of what the world would be like without bees, this dystopia also offer a small bit of romance that blooms in its fragile world.

The world building and character visualization far exceeded my expectations making everyone and everything come alive through her words. You could feel the dry earth, smell the wildflowers, heat the buzz of the bees and taste the beer pulled from the creek.

Daltons way of writing is absolutely incredible. Her ability to balance the where, who and why’s, just leaves you on this never ending cycle of turning every page until your closing the back cover and your left if awe of reading a novel that is for sure going become a favorite of many.
