Just when I thought I couldn’t love a Catherine Cowles book more along comes Delicate Escape. I’m not sure what she puts in her books but every one of the Small Town Romantic Suspenses I’ve read just keeps getting better and better.
The second book set in Sparrow Falls follows Thea and Shep, two characters we already are familiar with from Fragile Sanctuary. Their story is raw and emotional it’s heartbreaking and so so beautiful. My heart broke as we learn about Thea’s past and the things that happened to her and why she would rather face things alone with nothing apart from her cat and a house that she has slowly found comfort in.
Shep is the epitome of what a mmc should be..the way he cares for Thea and takes his time moving at a pace she is comfortable with is everything. Every interaction between them was heartfelt and beautiful..to see how their relationship developed throughout the book was so well written and taken with care, even though he has moments of insecurity there wasn’t a time where he didn’t put Thea first. Their friendship and slow burn romance was heartfelt and swoon worthy and with some very well written spice that I absolutely loved.
As always with a Catherine Cowles book the small town setting and characters is such a comfort to me and feels like coming home..the way she can write suspense is amazing and you can never guess no matter how much you think you have it worked out who the actual villian is. I will always recommend a Catherine Cowles book and I can’t wait to to be back in Sparrows Fall again soon. Highly recommend!
