This book is great. It has one of those twists you never see coming. It has an amazing world. We are following multiple perspectives, and that threw me off a bit if I'm honest. It isn't my favorite way to read sci-fi. The chapters we're labeled in the changing of perspective, so for my personal preference it was harder to flip into the new character mindset. No shade to the writer, they are brilliant. Just keep that in mind as a reader if this is something you also think about while reading.

The first sister is mute. As a sister she is assigned to hear confessions. She can only find relief in her own life by climbing the rank of the sisterhood. Her captain left her behind. She is assigned to a new ship and has to start over. Her position is now in jeopardy, and now she has to make some difficult choices.

I wanted to enjoy this book more than I did.  the writing was brilliant. It is fantastic sci-fi. I think the multiple perspectives and my headspace at the time blocked me a bit from liking it more.
