Was bummed that this was another “Bond takes on US based crime syndicate” plot instead of something that felt more global in scale and reflective of the Cold War era. Entertaining and quick read as usual but holy shit this book has the most blatantly racist passage I’ve encountered in a Bond book so far. Bigotry in Flemings writing continually detracts from being able to fully appreciate these books as fun dumb adventure stories.
Graphic: Racial slurs and Racism
Minor: Sexual assault
