2 stars -- Why did I keep reading after the first pages indicated this wasn't going to be my book? Because I'm pretty sure I read it when I got it and kept it, so I needed to know why!! Did I find out? Not really. I guess I found out just how much I've changed in 12 years.

This book was, to put it mildly, problematic. Which, come on Lenore, the book is CALLED Mistress *Against Her Will*, so clue. But sometimes authors can pull this shit off, you know? Not in this case for me. There was gaslighting and toxicity from her current beau, and honestly I wasn't a fan of Zane's behavior with Gail either. There was a borderline statutory rape (though since she was 17 it's not actually, it just felt icky since he was 24 and the circumstances were...not great). And there was a WHOLE bunch of intentional miscommunication and trickery...and yet apparently past Lenore forgave Zane because he loved her all this time. *rolls eyes hard*

Note to self: in the interests of self preservation, don't let your curiosity make you finish a book you previously read if this reread it's looking bad. Just accept you've changed and MOVE ON.
