Daughter of Tides by Kit Rocha
4.25
I loved both Consort of Fire and Queen of Dreams, so was very excited to read this one.
This follows 3 characters that we've met previously - Aleksi (the Lover), Einar (the Kraken) and Naia (a sea goddess).
Following the world-changing events of Queen of Dreams, the 3 are tasked with visiting the inhabitants of an island to check all is in order. But each has to face different parts of their past, while building their future.
This is the first book in a spin-off series, but I would say should be treated as book 3 from the first series. The main characters are different, but the world story very much carries on.
The chemistry between the main characters was great. At times things felt a little too simple with how their relationship built and slotted into place. The balance they each brought worked well though.
I very much enjoyed the setup of the island, both in its history and its present day setting. A large portion of the book is set in or around the sea, which brought a nice contrast to the previous books.
All in all I very much enjoyed this, and am looking forward to reading book 2 when it releases.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the free digital copy. All thoughts are my own.
