So, I read a lot of the reviews for this one because I was curious. When an author returns to a series she swore she wouldn’t write for again, after ten years, people are going to have high expectations.

Reading this right after binging the original trilogy, I have to say I really loved The Sunshine Court. It’s clearly a set up, two more books have now been announced, and honestly I can’t wait for the rest of the story.
Is this all about Jean’s trauma? Yes, of course it is. Considering what you learn about Jean’s life in the original trilogy, is it surprising that this is only the tip of the trauma iceberg?

Anyway, I’m a real sucker for a character’s slow healing journey; and Jean’s has only just gotten started.
