Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

This book is one rolling, nerdy 80s reference. And it gets better each time I read it. The characters are relatable, flawed, and people I want to be best friends with. The nerd in me loves this, and I also had a blast telling my mom about each reference made to see which ones she got (the answer: all of the music ones, half the movies, and zero of the need pop culture).

If you're on the fence because sci-fi isn't your thing or the 80s isn't your thing, pick it up anyway. It's funny, witty, and somehow filled with excellent (and depressing) commentary on humankind and what we're doing to our planet.
