Stuck in the Country with You by Zuri Day

medium-paced

3.5

This story worked great as a palate cleanser. The emotional relationship between the main characters could have been more fleshed out. One moment, the fmc was letting her guard down for the first time, and in the next, they were in a full-fledged relationship.
The story offers a dual perspective, but the switch seemed to happen within chapters and between paragraphs. This sometimes led to confusion and took me out of the flow because I had to check back whether I had missed something, only to find out that it was just the way the story was set up.
This is a character driven story, and unfortunately, a lot more seemed to happen off the page, and we were told after the fact. As a result, while I found the characters sympathetic, I didn't love them.
