This book. It's light and easy to read but that's about it.

There is nothing to hate. There is literally nothing. The book has no depth.

How does it go from this...

"And hell, having Piper effectively tell everyone in Westport they were sleeping together—and that so far he’d been great at it—was one way to appease his jealousy."

...to this?

"What happened between him and Piper should be private."

As I said, no depth

1. Piper's party girl personality is not very established
2. Piper's personality takes a 180 right off the bat
3. The seriously odd performative(?) sex
4. Shallow characters, shallow emotions
5. Slitted cliched dialogue
6. Plot of convience

Here's the thing: it anyone gives you an ultimatum: black or white, everything or nothing, run. Run for the hills. Maturity is understanding that life is not a zero sum game but contains gray nuances which matter.

So, yes, while this book finally does get there, it packs in unnecessary drama that cheapens it. The perfect ending would be Brendon understanding that Piper also has a life in LA and would be away at times, exactly like he is, on a boat. And Piper not compromising and leaving her LA life completely, she has her family, her abandoned line and her sister in LA.
