Ruined Secrets by Neva Altaj
4.0
I love this series and I'm so glad I kept reading it because this is one of my favorite mafia series but this book's synopsis made me so anxious. Just a whole idea of unrequired love made me scared but then amnesia on top of that made me even more anxious.
Ruined Secrets was such a bitter sweet book for me. Isabella was in love with Luca for pretty much her whole life, ever since he saved her life when she was a kid. But Luca couldn't get over their age difference. Isabella thought it was a dream come through when their marriage is arranged but sadly Luca wasn't as thrilled.
I liked Luca a lot more after he lost his memories. It's not like I disliked him before but I wasn't fan of his hot and cold attitude either and he was so sweet with Isabella after not having any memories of his life. He was free to act on his feelings and he wasn't afraid to show affection.
Weird thing about this book was that I loved how Isabella wasn't scared about anything and even pretty much kicked his ex wife out. I kind of wish we got to see more scenes about these two. There's just something with jealousy I love and most of the time only male characters are possessive, and I'm not saying Luca wasn't but it's also great to see when heroines get that way too.
All in all I liked Ruined Secrets more than I thought I would based on the synopsis. I can't believe I'm saying this but it got better after the amnesia. Not only did I like Luca more but we got to see Isabella's character more. We already knew she could be cunning but it was shown better after she tried her best so no one would found out what happened to her husband.
