I started to read it but couldn't bring myself to keep going because, from page 1, all I could think about was THE BONE SEASON by Samantha Shannon. Both books open with the main character in the middle of scanning through people's minds, with someone waiting around for them to finish up. Except I looooved THE BONE SEASON, so I guess this book had the disadvantage of coming to my attention second. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not sure if I would have been able to give it more of a chance if I wasn't tired, but honestly, I am busy and have other things to read that don't automatically make me compare them to another book constantly (that I happened to love enough to even start blogging). So this was a quick DNF for me when the book couldn't hold my attention.

That being said, at least the writing wasn't stunted like a lot of other books I've had to DNF recently?
