How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams

4.0

I started this thinking I would read a breezy, fun rom-com... but the book is way more complex than that and deals with the extremely difficult topic of violence (physical and psychological) in a couple.

If you “just” want to read about a love story, then I’d advise you that this book might be too much for you.

I am a strong person, and have (thankfully) never experienced the events described in the story, not even a little in my life... and yet, those scenes gave me pause and forced me to stop reading, a lump in my throat and a need to “regroup” before I could go on.

It’s an incredibly awful topic, extremely difficult to deal with, but I am glad I pulled through.

Still, it was a difficult, bitter read at some points, and one does not leave this book lightly after finishing it, the feeling is bittersweet. You’ve been warned.
