God of Fury by Rina Kent
5.0
5⭐️
I have to say, for Rina Kent’s first venture into MM romance, God of Fury was a smashing success. This book struck a perfect balance between being beautiful, heartbreaking, romantic, and even funny. While it has its dark moments—especially toward the end—I wouldn’t call it a dark romance. It’s intense, yes, but it doesn’t quite delve into the grittiness you might expect from that label.
Though this can absolutely be read as a standalone, I got swept up in the hype leading up to its release and decided to check out the earlier books in the series. Honestly? They didn’t grab me, and I ended up skimming most of them. But God of Fury? Totally different story. It hooked me from the start and didn’t let go.
I experienced the story both by reading the book and listening to the audiobook simultaneously, which was a game-changer. Teddy Hamilton and Shane East—two of my favorite narrators—absolutely elevated the experience. Their performances brought Nikolai and Brandon to life in such an emotional and captivating way. Without them, my rating might have been closer to 4⭐️, but their narrations sealed the deal at 5⭐️ for me.
There’s so much to love about this book, but one moment stuck with me: Nikolai saying,
That line perfectly captures the raw, messy, and beautiful dynamic between these two characters.
I know this book has sparked some polarizing opinions—you’ll find readers who absolutely love it and others who really don’t. For me, though, it was a gem and well worth the read. If you’re considering diving into MM romance, or just want a story that will tug on your heartstrings, God of Fury is a fantastic choice.
