It's probably more like 3.5 stars because so many things didn't make sense. Why would you kill off people you need for defence by letting them slip off a thingymabob on their first day? Hello?

There were so many tropes that have all been done better before. The love interest is a cardboard cutout of every other one you've ever seen but much less interesting.

The dragons were cool and some of the plot was fun but then some of it made me cringe like the Ninja Warrior stuff lol.

I dunno, it was...fine. Fun in places but not actually a good book. I'll try the next one to see if it improves but I suspect the opposite.
