This story, my friend, was sad.
In a very good way.

I think I understand it now, why for me horror novels are so appealing. Many of them, mostly the good ones, have sad undertones in them, and as a kid growing up sad, it's just like a calling to me. It's not the bawling-your-eyes-out kind of sad, but more like, the sinking feeling in your guts as you realize that the good people in the story wouldn't get the peace and happy ending they so much deserve, or that they are forced to lose so much that even though they make it to the end, they would be broken and battered and never fully healed again.

This is a tale about marriage.
A kind of "us versus the whole world" marriage.
A seemingly good marriage, that was once upon a time, truly felt like it.

But as it turns out, it's just a ticking time bomb.
