I had the audiobook of this YA survival thriller read by Amy McFadden who does a great job enhancing my enjoyment of the book.

The main character is a teenager Jess trying to survive her second adversity in life. Jess had to go to live with her father who is off grid in the Canadian wilderness after a car accident leaves her injured and her mother dead.

Then her father is killed leaving Jess trying to survive with her dad’s dog Bo. It’s got plenty of interest, and emotion which had me fully engaged with Jess wanting her to survive as winter is fast approaching.

This one really grabbed me from the beginning and kept me engrossed throughout, as there is always plenty going on with a good level of tension and jeopardy, there’s even some emotional content. It’s a YA book but crosses well in adult readership. I am surprised how much I loved this survival story, I was rooting for Jess.
