Video: in the mood for middle earth

[August 5, 2015, marking for re-read]

This was one of the books I picked up for the Booktubeathon. I knew that I wanted to listen to it on audiobook because I heard good things about the BBC dramatization and also because I just kind of struggled through my first read. I suspected I would appreciate it more the second time through.

"Appreciate it more," not completely fall in love with it, which I did. I gobbled up that BBC dramatization and then IMMEDIATELY picked up the unabridged audiobook read by Rob Inglis. I only listened to a chapter before I realized I also wanted to read along. So, I listened and read.

I get it now and I don't know why I didn't get it before, but this story has absolutely set roots down in my heart. I love the world and even the descriptions of trees and creatures and people. It felt so burdensome the first time but now? So rich.

I flippin' love Sam Gamgee. I want to put him in my pocket. Actually there are a lot of characters I love here but for some reason, Sam was the star of this reread.

The other character that really stood out to me was Boromir. I was giggling through the whole council meeting when he was basically like, "I WILL NOT ASK FOR HELP but you know. Wink." Alright, Boromir. We get it.

On I go to the Two Towers but I could read this again right now. This new love is strong.
