The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni
2.0
2.5 stars
This trilogy was a huge let down for me. I loved Noni’s other duology Whisper. I’ve been waiting to have access to these audiobooks since The Prison Healer was originally announced! When I finally found them through Hoopla, I was ecstatic.
The first book was so good!!! I flew through it. I loved the characters and the setting! And the story was so interesting!! But the second book was a HUGE let down for me. The characters felt stiff and unlike who they were in book 1. There wasn’t much action. Kiva made a bunch of really stupid decisions one right after the other.
That brings us to this book. Starting out I was pulled back into the story pretty fast and I found myself enjoying it again. But that ended up stopping around the halfway point. I feel like Noni tried to put way too much stuff into this book. It’s like there was nothing of substance in the second book, but then with this one it was so fast paced and action packed that it didn’t feel like it could plausibly happen. I know this isn’t making a whole lot of sense, but I want to avoid spoilers.
I still love most of the characters, so I’m really upset that I finished the series feeling like this. I think this series could have been incredible had the author paced herself.
