A wonderful YA adventure, willing to go significantly darker and more gruesome than most I have read. Nix creates a wonderful, imaginative, and excellently-realised world (unsurprisingly - That is rather his forte (see Keys to the Kingdom)) and populates it with a truly loveable cast and a magic system with just enough detail to keep things fun. Strongly recommended!
