Suffering from severe anxiety that renders him selectively mute, Miles has been crushing on his sexy neighbour, Trent, for years. Miles is a gentle giant of a man, but he doubts himself. Miles' son, Bubba, takes matter into his own hands and threatens Trent with a baseball bat to take his dad on a date. Trent has been a bit of a commitment phobe and is convinced he isn't looking for commitments. He has a bad case of imposter syndrome, and needless to say, their first date doesn't go well. Thanks to some more interference from Bubba, Trent sees the error of his ways and starts to form a friendship with Miles that builds between them and slowly develops into more.

Gah! I adored this! Both Miles & Trent are nuanced and multilayered characters, and the way the romance between them develops is heartwarming and believable. The side characters are great, especially Bubba. This story spans from around October and into the festive period, so we do get some of the festive vibes I was hoping for, but not as much as there was in book one. There are elements of angst mixed in throughout but overall, I found this to be a really heartwarming read with some great found family moments, humour and excellent spice mixed in and I'm excited for the next book in the series. Liam Dicosimo & Stephen Dexter are back narrating the audiobook like they did for book one and as always their perfomances were wonderful, they are two of my favourite performers for a reason, I will be waiting for the third book to come out on audio before diving in as that is the format I've consumed the first two in and would like to carry on that way if possible.  🌶🌶🌶
