A Light in the Dark by Miranda Sapphire

Beast & Claire: Such a Sweet Story of True Love and Forgiveness 5 Stars!
What a book! This was one of the sweetest stories I've ever read! A wonderful way to start the New Year!
A LIGHT IN THE DARK is about a young woman named Claire who sets out on her own to be a Questor, an investigator of sorts who aides citizens in need of assistance. She accepts a quest centering around a mysterious manor and its occupant, a beastly man named... well, Beast. Her first instinct is fear, but her instincts tell her that he isn't a danger to her. Claire soon learns that Beast is under the enchantment that prevents him from leaving the manor, which he has occupied for two centuries. As she continues her investigation into Beast's plight, she can't help the attraction she feels towards him. Even though her thoughts of Beast turn from pity to that of lust, Claire is bound by her sworn duty. Much to her chagrin, Claire decides to keep their relationship/friendship with Beast strictly cordial and professional.
Beast has only known violence, pain, and despair for the past two centuries. Haunted by an incident connected to his past, Beast has accepted his imprisonment at the manor and feels like he has earned his fate. However, he sees a ray of hope in the feisty Questor who arrived on his doorstep to assist him. His feels for Claire begin to run deep but he feels that he doesn't deserve her or love.
This couple touched my heart. Each with their own fair share of personal trauma, Claire and Beast connected on a level other than their pain. They connected through friendship, mutual respect, and non-judgement. I thought the role reversal in this book was cleverly written with Claire being the lean to for Beast, as he struggled accepting the revelations from his past. What I loved most was Beast's willingness to be vulnerable around Claire and Claire's determination to never to give up on Beast or a future with him in spite of Beast's denial of deserving happiness.
Don't let the cover fool you... these two really heat up the page as the love scenes are quite spicy! Just the right level of spice to seal the attraction and passion these two possessed for one another. Further, I loved the inclusion in this story!!! There was so much representation here that my heart sang! I loved it and this just makes me want to read everything on this author's backlist. Miranda Sapphire is now one of my favorite, newly discovered authors!
This is a story that every person who loves Romantasy, Faes/Mages/Orcs and all of the other wonderful creatures that make up this sweet, paranormal novel! I recommend this book one-thousand times over! It's an excellent read that will make you cry happy, happy tears!
Happy reading!
