Leigh Bardugo exceeded my expectations with this one. Man I loved Shadow & Bone, but still felt like it was missing something. Well that spark was found here in Six of Crows.
Immediately you are immersed in the high stakes world of the Crows. Kaz Brekker is high up in the Dregs, a gang in Ketterdam. Kaz is given a proposition by a one of the top merchants, Van Eck to bring back a scientist, Bo Yul-Bayur, who created jurda parem, a drug that allows Grisha to be nearly unstoppable. Yul-Bayur is a prisoner in Fjerda in their Ice Court, a high security building with many layers. Kaz needs a crew to get through this impossible heist, and not just any crew, he needs the best.
With the help of Inej, Jesper, Nina, Matthias, and Wylan, Kaz Brekker has a crew with everything they’ll need. The heist is a death wish, but that’s never stopped Kaz before, especially when money is involved. But what happens when nothing goes to plan?
Gosh I love every single one of these characters. I literally cannot choose a favorite. They all are so well written. I cant wait to see the further character development in Crooked Kingdom. Also, I just know the stakes are gonna be even higher.
I wish I would’ve read this sooner, this has been on my tbr for years....
