It will take me awhile to get over this book. I went through so many emotions. Meredith and Nina have always struggled with why their cold mother, who adores their father so, can despise them. When their father dies, they are forced to confront how they have all built the walls that keep them apart. As they learn their mother’s story, they begin to see everything they thought they knew was a distortion of the real. Through the journey of these three women, they come to understand the meaning of love, courage, strength, forgiveness, and family. It also teaches us the value of history. Both the world’s and our own. It was an emotional roller coaster and I was along for the ride. I was truly in this story - what they felt, I did too. After turning the last page through a river of tears, I just had to sit for a moment and then I grabbed my daughter and gave her a ferocious hug. I will be thinking about this book for a long time.
