I received an ARC from TBR and Beyond Tours in exchange for an honest review. Who needs guns when you've got electric swords?

Okay, so this book wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be! I honestly just looked at the BEAUTIFUL cover and knew I wanted to read - it looked like an amazingly fantastical adventure! I kind of skimmed the premise to be perfectly honest, which is why when I started this book, I thought I might DNF it - it was so obviously sci-fi, it was unbelievable! That fact aside, I'm glad I forged on and finished it!

First of all, if you're into short reviews, think [b:Aurora Rising|30075662|Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle, #1)|Amie Kaufman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1560056657l/30075662._SY75_.jpg|50493990], but for adults with mythology, mystery, AND magic!

If you're in for the long hull, here are my thoughts:

The worldbuilding was very well done and thought out. I could clearly see the difference in cultures between the "aliens" and the humans - the "aliens" had their own curse words (something every language in fantasy/sci-fi needs), specific clothing differences pointed out, and the locations were painted well. Sometimes a little too well though, in my opinion - in the second half of the book, that is when I skimmed over the details of the setting because I got the just of it - sleek, futuristic rooms. There were many other interesting parts to this world too - how the "aliens" aged differently than us (freaking Meegan is 318!!!
