First of all, this story had NO business being this good! Second of all, that first chapter had NO business being leaving me that WRECKED! I won’t spoil anything, but do read with care, as some aspects may be triggering for some readers. Also, this was the first fantasy book I read where the characters described, looked like me: brown or deep skin tones, long locs, coarse curly hair, strong, determined…the diversity in this was an awesome breath of fresh air! Representation matters, and it was amazing to see characters that looked and shared cultural ways like me in something I love consuming: books! Do be mindful that this does end of a bit of a cliffhanger; but even if it didn’t, trust me, you’d want to know more about this fantasy world and the people in it anyway! Definitely recommend checking this out!
