The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

******SPOILERS AHEAD******

When I sat down to write a review for QoN, I felt I hadn't done justice to the books and went on a re-read spree. So here I am, having spent the first two months of the year reading this series twice!!

QoN is rife with emotions. Jude's relationship with several people ended with a lot of tension in The Wicked King. Be it her father, who's the enemy to the crown now, her betraying sister, now guilty of murder or her husband, the High King of Elfhame responsible for her exile.

What I loved about this book was how well it redeemed Cardan. He tried his best to keep her away from Madoc with his powers, he risked his life by stepping into the enemy camp to save her and when she needed him the most, he sided by her. Unlike him, Jude is the same smart and stubborn girl. She managed to fool everyone, learnt of their plan and when she was dying, she pulled on to the strength of the land. She became magic!

While I didn't like how Cardan tricked Jude, she had it coming since Cruel Prince. And he deserved that tight slap to his face lol. I am glad these two finally opened up their hearts to each other.

I was so proud of him when he fulfilled the prophecy in such a glorious manner but after what happened I was horrified. I was sad thinking maybe Jude and Cardan are not endgame after all, but my hopes were not in vain. I got the happy ending I wanted, their little moment together, each of them confessing their hearts out! And we have two rulers now instead of one, each of them with their own throne and crown, all thanks to Cardan! Isn't it ironical that this boy who once considered Jude an outsider has given her a home in his heart and raised her to the highest possible rank in Faerie?

What I found hilarious is that Madoc and Co now live in the mortal realm while Jude and Taryn live in Faerie, the irony! The little celebration in the mortal world was adorable.

As a bonus, I found the Letters to Jude and they are lovely!! Cardan's longing for Jude increases with each passing letter and the final one is basically Jude written all over, lol!!

I loved this book, I loved the series as a whole, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

PS: While Jude is clearly the protagonist, two of the books are named around Cardan. The main events in all books are also around Cardan. I don't know what I am trying to conclude on by saying this, but it's something I always think upon.
