First of all, I read an actual copy of this book (versus on my Kindle) and the cover is gorgeous and is a wonderful visual of the beauty of this book. Once I started this book, I got swept up in the story, the characters, and their heartbreaks. This book felt raw and real, but not in an overly intense way. The author was able to navigate deeply difficult realities of the characters with depth and tenderness. This story easily could have reared into tragedy porn and it didn't and it hit all the right notes for me.
