The Relentless Moon by Mary Robinette Kowal

5.0

Wow. This was a fantastic continuation of this universe. It tells a complete story but left me wanting more. MRK continues to give me an excellent blend of hard science and enough hand-waving science fiction to keep the plot moving along at a brisk clip.

This being the third book in the series, either you're in or you need to start back at the original novella or first novel.

The point is this is one of the best science fiction series of this decade, up there with NK Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy and Leckie's Ancillary series. I love this world, I love and care for these characters, and I want them to succeed and thrive despite what the omnipresent Author throws at them in the name of a good plot. And throw she does. Our heroes are flawed. Nervous. Trusting or distrustful. Some struggle with mental illnesses. Some fight the system that holds them down. We find ourselves on a mission to the Lunar base and then sh-- hits the fan and we are left to survive, with just a few layers of protection between us and the unforgiving vacuum of space.

Wholeheartedly recommended.
