The Pairing by Casey McQuiston

3.0

This one didn’t quite hit for me. Maybe second chance romance isn’t the trope for me? I might be too old, to be honest. The casual sex competition wasn’t really entertaining and seemed somewhat pointless. The descriptions of food and drink were well done but at the same time, overdone and maybe a little soul-less. There is no way Anthony Bourdain would have been impressed with the culinary focus of this book. There was character development but the author told it instead of showing it. Having the book split into Theo’s perspective in the first half and Kit’s in the second half was an interesting approach. With only two main characters, I might have preferred a back and forth over the course of the tour. Anyways, this is my first book from this author and I’m not sure they are for me!
