This book has the power to break through multiple systemic oppressions and still manage to strike through the heart unflinchingly.

Issues it tackled: Immigration and cultural issues, fragility of familial bonds esp. on wife - husband and parent - child, forced vulnerability, facing shameful and evil thoughts we simply can't do away with, H O N E S T Y and L I E S in multiple forms, and even the pitfalls of court drama like the guilt of enjoying every story spooling out backed from lie to truth to another lie. I FCKING LOVE THIS.

I've listened to the audiobook while doing my thesis, and I kid you not, MY EYES ARE SO EFFING TIRED FROM CRYING BC OF THIS GENIUS WORK OF ART (and from my thesis hehe) This book has a lot to unpack and I still have my thesis to tend to soooo yes, you'll just have to take my word that this is absolute, heart-achingly, beautiful.
