“We believe the one who has power. He is the one who gets to write the story. So when you study history you must ask yourself, Whose story am I missing?, Whose voice was suppressed so that this voice could come forth? Once you have figured that out, you must find that story too. From there you get a clearer, yet still imperfect, picture.”
This book give voice to the people who are suppressed, 7 generations of stories that begin in Ghana and leave you wanting more. I fell in love with H's story, so hard to read but so real.
Is definitely a GREAT debut novel, with beautiful writing and stories that give you a horrific look at history between Ghana and America and yet still imperfect, picture.
I recommend this book to everyone, it's beautiful and you won't regret reading it.
