King has outdone himself. This is not horror, just pure fantasy fiction. And it is beautiful! So much amaing worldbuilding! The protagonist being from contemporary times is very relateable and is the perfect "outsider" to explore the setting. The parts which do give a sense of foreboding are masterfully written. It's like a classic fairy tail, although not quite.
