I could go on about this book forever! Vansickle's rhyming text can be tricky to read aloud, especially with the slant rhymes, but it is a driving force keeping the book moving and is well done. Eckwall's highly detailed illustrations strategically make use of red in an otherwise black-and-white world. References to other fairy tales and stories abound, making it perfect for even older kids.
