The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
5.0
Wow! Just... Wow!
Wonderful writing, epic story plot, fantastic characters and a main girl that is actually capable of thinking on her own!
I loved this, I loved it all!
Kestrel is wonderful and perfect because she in imperfect, she has flaws, but she knows that and she uses her good points to cancel out the bad as best as she can, and she can think! She thinks for herself and tries to find options that others don't see or don't want to see. She searches better ways that might not be the typical way or the best known, but an option non the less.
She is smart and logical and just.. Such a wonderful female character! It's fanstic to finally actually have a book that as a great female character from start to finish and not going stupid because of some male attention!
I enjoyed her relationship with her father, which was different and in ting but clearly a loving one!
I enjoyed Arin and how he was portrayed and how he behaved. I loved how it slowly a raveled and we got to know him better and we discovered it throug kestrel who was trying to figure him out.
I enjoyed the friendship between kestrel and Jess even if I'd exist reealky like Jess. It was still good to see such a typical fantasy female character -pretty, completely focused in males and dresses and balls and mostly utterly useless for anything else on the first view!- compare to kestrel who was/is clearly different.
It all is just wonderful, but the differences in the characters clearly played a big role to my love for the story!
This book has it all, adventure, action, romance, friendship, family, relationships, scandal, tragedy and hope!
It's a fanstic book for everyone, people new to the fantasy genre (because this does NOT rad like a typical fantasy but rather a historical fiction) or old fans, this book will have something you enjoy!
Read it, fall in love with the writing, the setting, the plots, the twists, the action and the characters!
