The Raven Before the Dove by Cherry Pickett

5.0

(4.5/5) This romance kept me on the edge of my seat so much that I finished it within two days. I'm an admitted fan of the author and this story did not disappoint.

We meet main character Prince Cirrus of the Corvid Kingdom, who is in self-imposed exile, fearing the wrath of his wicked mother, the Empress Altostratus. When the empress decides to attack, Cirrus must flee again, all while concealing his omega nature. As he runs, he is accompanied by three alphas: Aquila, Hawthorn, and Arcticos. During their journey, they all grow closer - but are there bonds strong enough to defeat the empress?

This dark fantasy is full of tender, high-heat moments. I very much enjoyed watching the relationship between Cirrus and the three alphas develop. I will say that some of the descriptions of pregnancy and birth were a tad graphic for me. (Do heed the content warnings! Parts of this story are somewhat painful!) Overall, however, Pickett delivers for me again and I continue to be a fan!
