Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
4.0
This is the scariest book I have ever read, period! Home Before Dark is my first book by Riley Sager, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. This book is about Maggie who 25 years ago, living in a haunted house with her parents. They fled the house after only living there for a few weeks, and her dad wrote about their experience in a book, which became a bestseller. For 25 years, Maggie lived in the fame of the book, but never really believed the story in it, because she doesn't remember anything during that time. When her father died, she decided to go back to the house and was determined to find out the truth.
I think it is known that Riley Sager's writing is really good. The atmosphere and setting in this book is top notch, it was really suspenseful and eerie from the beginning to the end. A lot of people said that this book giving them A Haunting of Hill House vibe, but since I haven't watch that tv series, reading this book giving me Conjuring universe vibe - from the haunted house to Ms Pennywise with the coin in her eyes which is one of the ghost in Annabele Comes Homes
