I think the blurb does this one a disservice - it’s less a cohesive story and more a series of loosely connected vignettes. At times the connection is so thin it disappears, but the lyricism of the prose carries you through. There are a lot of lovely moments here, including a perfect closing line, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
