On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

5.0

Stephen King is a writing master and this book only cements his place among today's greatest (and more prolific) writers.
King tells about his background in writing and give several tips, tricks, and thoughts about writing. He also offers lots of encouragement to writers and a lot of practical advice. Through the book, we learn about King's own journey to becoming the renowned author he is today and the people who helped him along the way.
King's advice is fantastic. Not only does he offer plenty of examples to demonstrate his thoughts, but his advice is supported by other writers and other writing books. He is clear, succinct, and extremely helpful.
More than anything, this book was excellent motivation for me to continue working on my own writing and not to give up hope on it.
Every aspiring writer should read this, if only to gain a new perspective on the craft and to see how one individual's path led to success.
