Come & Get It by Kiley Reid
5.0
4.5
I was initially concerned about how it took so long for the plot promised on the inside cover to come together, but then when it finally did, I realized how much more I loved the characters for Reid’s character driven writing rather than a deep focus on plot.
Then boom, the last 100 pages hit! All of the awkward moments and small character choices crescendoed into one really incredible climax.
Reid’s view of the world and her understanding of these characters is so incredible and so contemporary. I found myself laughing out loud at really verbose paragraphs and micro-agressions from the characters.
I told myself when I picked this one up that this was likely to be a book I’d regret not having read when EOY best of lists come out and I really think that will ring true.
