the book was more character-development driven than "the thousand dollar tan line", which is fine for fans of the franchise, but i think it makes a weak stand-alone book. even as marshmallow, i still found the book fell a bit flat for me because the mystery was kind of one-dimensional. there was really only one big twist, and it came pretty early on; i predicted the ending pretty quickly.
