Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance by Shellee Roberts

When I found this book on Netgalley I just knew that I wanted to request it, I really enjoyed How Willa Got Her Groove Back and I couldn’t wait until I could read the other books in this series. I was lucky and I got the book to read and review it.
The book is written from Mariely Hinojosa, the protagonist. A girl who loves acting and would like to be an actress one day. There are also a few chapters written from Cabot Wheeler his perfective, a boy who loves photography and painting. The way it was written was eactly the same as in How Willa Got Her Groove Back. Mariely was written from the first person and Cabot from the third person – just like with Willa and Finn. Mariely was a very nice protagonist, she was funny but sometimes a little insecure. She was unsure of herself, but also of her home. I just liked to read from her perspective and she didn’t annoy me one time. I also liked Cabot A LOT. He is super sweet and helpful and I literally swooned all the way through the book.
Another thing that this book resembled from How Willa Got Her Groove Back, was that it contained a lot of drama. Not nearly as much as in HWGHGB, but still quite a lot. It started with this whole thing about the breakups of Mariely and Jacen and Cabot and Audrey. Then it goes straight to the drama of the fauxmance – the fake relationship and that really was the best thing about it. A book should have the right amount of drama in it and that is something Shellee Roberts did very well.
The way Mariely and Cabot fall in love is realistic and also very cute. You see them slowly (and then all at once.. no just kidding) falling of each other and that makes reading it so much more fun! I had the idea that sometimes it was a bit rushed, that sometimes it just went too fast and I think that is because the book is so short. I pity that, because if the book was slightly longer I obviously could enjoy it even longer and I think that the relationship of Mariely and Cabot could be a bit more detailed.
The protagonists of HWGHGB were also in this book and that is something I was impressed about. I knew this book was part of a series, but I didn’t know that Willa and Finn would be in it so often. Also the subject from the other book is reflected in this book. It is so fun to see it through Marielys eyes, and see what Willa and Finn feel for each other. It is fun because you can experience Marielys intake on their situation– that Mariely also thinks that they should be together. I loved that.
I really – really enjoyed the book, it was light and easy to read, but I couldn’t give it five stars. If I had to compare it with HWGHGB, I think Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance just missed something, so I give it four stars.
