Dracula by Bram Stoker
3.0
Type of read: Weekend/Lunchtime Read.
What made me pick it up: I'm reading 'Dracula' as part of Dracula Daily, a reading experience where you get to experience the book during its literary timeline. Saying that, this will not be a quick read, but I'm excited to have a more immersive reading experience. Details on Dracula Daily can be found here: https://draculadaily.substack.com/
Overall rating: Because of the way I'm taking in 'Dracula,' at a slower pace than normal and with larger gaps between reading sessions, I almost don't think it's fair to rate it so I'm just going to give it 3/5 stars. It's a good read, but it's definitely not the read for everyone. And quite honestly, some of the language and writing could be difficult to get through if you're just approaching it for the first time and not positive about what you're getting in to.
I have read Dracula before, but it's been quite some time. I do always love and appreciate the classics and I'm thankful I was able to experience the story as I did with a more in-depth, slow-paced reading vibe. I think it goes without saying that you need to read what makes you happy and what interests you, but I'm a firm believer that some classics just need to be read. Dracula would probably be one of those classics. And I feel like if tackling a classic head-on seems daunting, doing it in a way where you can read the book as it's written in the timeline of its narration it's a pretty great option.
