The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
5.0
I haven’t read poetry in a while but Acevedo’s writing reminded me of why I loved reading it in the first place
There is so much power in words, in the way we string them together to describe our experiences and connect with one another
I loved reading about X and the ways in which she was just trying to get out of the very small box her family kept trying to push her in
The arc felt realistic & never rushed and I know i’ll be coming back to these poems for years to come
